Exhibitor/ Sponsor Conference 2018

What is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Forum?

It is a full day forum, being held on Monday 18 May 2015, the day before the FCA conference. This year it is not at the Conference hotel but nearby.

It was started by Jan Pentland to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander financial counsellors and money management workers in their roles.
  • The forum is organised by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander steering group
  • It usually runs from about 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, followed by a dinner.
  • FCA is not involved in running the event, other than to take registrations on the website.
  • The steering group sets the agenda and runs what we’ve heard is a terrific and worthwhile day.

What is the cost?

There is no charge for those invited to attend the day. It is a sponsored event.

For the hotel - this year the ATSI forum has its own allocation of rooms at the QT hotel (conference venue) so you are all together but you need to book through a different pathway - so don’t book your hotel through the FCA website.

Please email Erin Hawkins, at Flight Centre and say you’re going to the ‘ATSI forum’  - erin.hawkins@flightcentre.com.au . Or call Erin on 03 9947 0700. Erin will arrange everything. The price for accommodation is the same as through the conference website - $230 (includes full breakfast).

For your flights - Erin can also book your flights.

Who can come?

The forum is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander financial counsellors and financial capability workers (used to be called Money Management workers).

If you’re part of this network you’re probably on the ‘FCA-ATSI google list’ and will have the code to register. If you’re not and would like to join, please have a chat to Lynda Edwards, CentaCare Wilcannia-Forbes and introduce yourself  0447 776 418 or email ledwards@centacarewf.org.au

Do you know of any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers who may not know about this network and this day? Please pass on this information and ask them to call Lynda Edwards  0447 776 418.

Can non-indigenous workers come?

The forum is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander financial counsellors/financial capability workers or financial counsellors/financial capability workers who work predominately with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. If you are uncertain about whether you are able to attend, please give Lynda Edwards a call.

Where is it being held?

This year it is not at the conference hotel but not too far away. You will get information and transport arrangements closer to the time.

Is there funding to attend?

There may be some sponsorship funding for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Network workers only.  We’re waiting on more info.
